The Augusta & Co Company
Augusta
& Co plc is an independent London based merchant bank, with
further offices in Frankfurt, providing corporate finance and capital
markets services to European middle market companies and investors.
By providing direct access to institutional investors in both debt
and equity and in supplying a high level of corporate finance and
structuring advice they help their clients choose and benefit from
the available financing and strategic options offered by the European
capital markets.
Augusta
& Co plc is owned by its Partners and employees. Without the
costs and conflicts of supporting the capital intensive infrastructure
of the bigger investment banks they can take an independent and
long-term approach to building client relationships.
Germany
Germany, known for its large base of midcap companies, is one of
Augusta's core markets. Basel II and the apparent difficulties in
the German banking system have left a large number of formidable
mittelstand companies with significantly reduced financing sources.
Through its access to institutional private debt and equity, as
well as the substantial knowledge base of its professionals, Augusta
is focused on providing financing alternatives and highly skilled
corporate finance advice to the German middle market. In October
2003 Augusta & Co formed its German subsidiary Augusta &
Cie GmbH in Frankfurt.
France
The environment in France is very different, for structural and
historic reasons, to that of the UK and Germany. For that reason
the firm has established an experienced team to work with French
middle market companies and Private Equity firms and those companies
who wish to enter the French market through investment or acquisition.
Our focus is on companies needing sophisticated advice and customised
capital structuring to execute their strategic plans. In many cases
it is these companies who do not have access to the bigger, very
large company focused investment banks for their capital and transactional
advice and who do not have the experience or contacts in the capital
markets either in France or abroad, especially in London, that Augusta
is designed to work with.
Continental
Europe
Augusta & Co is in constant contact with its network of
professional and industrial colleagues across Europe and is proud
to have worked with them on a number of cross border transactions.
The team boasts a number of languages and backgrounds from Continental
Europe and is very active in using these to foster relationships
with the local commercial and banking sectors. Though the capital
markets in London have historically provided a large part of the
financing infrastructure and innovation the Continental players
are now becoming very active in private debt, equity and more complex
structuring and strategic financings and it is essential to the
Augusta team to be in touch with these centres and their industrial
users.
