About
The Bestinvest Company
Bestinvest take a radically different approach to most other investment
advisers. Typically, they do not receive any commission from transactions,
their income is derived mainly from the value of clients' investments.
In that way they avoid the potential conflict of interest that can
affect the impartiality of advice. Bestinvest only prosper if clients
remain with them and the value of their investments grow.
The
foundation of their advice is independent research. Their own research
analysts carry out hundreds of face to face meetings with fund managers
each year. Their job is to look beneath the marketing hype and separate
the sheep from the goats. Unlike some advisers who seem to specialise
only in 'buy' recommendations, Bestinvest never afraid to say 'sell'
if they genuinely believe that to be the right advice. As an endorsement
of their research capability, they are proud to say that many other
financial advisers pay a fee to gain access to the same recommendations
that they make to their clients.
Bestinvest
think that impartial, personalised advice, backed by thorough independent
research is a pretty powerful offering in itself, but they go one
step further in offering it at discount prices. In fact they typically
discount all of the initial commission on Funds and ISAs and negotiate
further discounts with the managers. Bestinvest agree that the cost
of investing in the UK has been too high and they are happy to use
the benefits of their purchasing power and operating efficiency
to drive down costs for their clients.
Bestinvest offer you honesty, professionalism and value for money.
Their approach is designed for the medium to long term investor
who wants to sleep easily at night but earn competitive returns.
Bestinvest
was founded in 1986 by John Spiers (the present managing director)
and Roger Carroll (who was then the Personal Finance Editor of The
Sunday Telegraph).
Originally
the business focussed on the analysis of investments offering tax
benefits to top rate taxpayers but during the 1990's the range of
services was expanded to cover most types of investment worth considering
by UK residents.
Bestinvest
Clients have combined assets in excess of £1 billion.
Bestinvest
(Brokers) Plc is an Independent Adviser, authorised and regulated
