About
The Barnett Waddingham Company
Barnett
Waddingham is an independent firm of actuaries and consultants which
employs over 280 partners and staff in 6 offices throughout the
UK. They offer a full range of professional services to pension
schemes, life insurance companies and friendly societies. These
services include the design, valuation and financial management
of occupational pension schemes as well as advice relating to the
investment of assets and the selection and monitoring of fund managers.
Full administration services are also provided to pension schemes.
In addition, the firm provides a broad range of actuarial and computer
services to life insurance companies and friendly societies.
Barnett
Waddingham was formed as a result of a merger between two established
firms of consulting actuaries: Rodney Barnett & Company and
Waddingham & Co. Rodney Barnett & Company was established
in 1960 while Waddingham & Co was formed in 1987 by Adrian Waddingham.
In
1989 the two firms merged and Huw Wynne-Griffith and Nick Salter,
both senior actuaries, joined the new firm. Huw is the Senior Partner
of Barnett Waddingham.
The
firm has grown steadily since 1989 from a headcount of only 20 to
over 280 today.
Their turnover has increased ten-fold over the period and they now
have 23 partners and 21 associates.
This
growth has been strong but it has also been controlled. They have
not needed to market their services overtly and have won new clients
on the basis of their reputation and references from existing clients
and other professional contacts.
