CIS
have been around since 1867, and they are the only co-operative
insurance company in the United Kingdom.
CIS have around 5.4 million customers and currently administer more
than £20 billion of their money.
As
well as life assurance and home and motor insurances, their range
includes pensions, mortgages, with-profits bonds, critical illness
products, unit trusts and ISAs.
While
CIS have evolved to meet the demands of their customers, they have
remained firm to the co-operative principles that underpin their
success.
CIS is part of Co-operative Financial Services, an integrated financial
services business within the Co-operative Group, one of the largest
consumer-owned businesses in the world.
Profits
on general insurance business may be used to contribute to the Group
through the payment of dividends.
