About
The Darlington Building Society Company
Darlington
Building Society is the leading mutual provider of housing finance,
savings products and financial services serving principally County
Durham, North Yorkshire and the Tees Valley.
Darlington Building Society
has been looking after the interests of local people since 1856
when, as the Darlington Working Men's Equitable Permanent Building
Society, it was formed in Darlington to benefit the local community.
Darlington Building Society, as a mutual organisation, has no outside
shareholders to pay dividends to so it can use its profits over
time to provide more attractive interest rates to savers and borrowers,
to build up capital strength for the protection of members' funds
and to develop new products and services.
Darlington Building Society is dedicated to remaining a mutual independent
building society providing benefits for the local community, local
people and most of all providing benefits to the members of the
Society.
Darlington Building Society is an enthusiastic supporter of numerous
local charities and a major supporter of local sport and arts in
the region, including the high profile support of Darlington Football
Club. Take a look at their community page to find out more.
Darlington Building Society has won numerous awards for its commitment
to the local community. In both the 2002 and 2003 Mortgage Finance
Gazette Awards, the Society won the prestigious Community Services
Award for regional lenders. At the Tees Valley Business Awards in
1999, the Society won the Business in the Community Award, and in
1998 won the Business in the Community Award and the Overall Award
for the Darlington region, in the County Durham and Darlington Business
Excellence Awards.
