About
The European Private Equity and Venture Capital Association Company
( EVCA )
The European Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (
EVCA ) has been representing the European private equity and
venture capital industry since 1983 and promoting private equity
investment to Investors, Policy Makers, Entrepreneurs and Industry.
What Does EVCA Do?
Provision
of Networking opportunities
Each year, EVCA runs three well-established conferences:
- The
International Investors Conference
- The
Annual Symposium
- The
Technology Investment Conference
The
Association also provides opportunities for informal brainstorming
and networking at sector-specific workshops.
Provision of Training
EVCA provides private equity management training to practitioners
within the framework of the EVCA Institute as well as university
syllabus support for the private equity education of entrepreneurs.
Coordination
of Public Affairs
EVCA continuously monitors and seeks to influence the impact of
public policy on the European private equity and venture capital
industry by working actively with the European Comission, the European
Parliament, and related European Institutions to promote EVCA's
priorities for public policy. This work is followed through with
supporting activities within national member states.
Research
initiatives
EVCA commissions original research to investigate aspects of the
European private equity industry and to improve the quality of information
about the activities and attitudes of investors and entrepreneurs.
Publishing
industry literature
EVCA develops and publishes brochures, directories, press summaries
and special papers covering areas such as research, investor relations,
success stories and tax & legal matters. The quarterly newsletter,
EVCA Network News, keeps readers up-to-date with developments within
and affecting the European private equity and venture capital community.
Upholding
professional standards
One of the goals of the European private equity sector is to provide
greater transparency to its investors. As the industry has matured,
there has generally been preceived to be a need for greater consistency
of valuation and reporting standards by managers of, and investors
in, venture capital and private equity funds. The Association has
issued pan-European guidelines for the reporting and valuation of
private equity portfolios and a code of conduct which all EVCA members
should follow.
