Regent Markets (IOM) Ltd. and Regent Markets (UK) Ltd. are wholly
owned subsidiaries of Regent Markets Group Ltd. (formerly known
as Fixed-Odds Group Ltd.), a company owned by companies affiliated
to management, private investors, and Regent Pacific Group Ltd.
Regent
Pacific Group Ltd. is an international financial group based in
Hong Kong. Regent Pacific Group Ltd. has been listed on the Hong
Kong Stock Exchange since May 1997 and is also listed on the Deutsche
Boerse. Regent Pacific Group Ltd.'s shareholders include a number
of leading international institutions from the USA, Europe and Japan.
The most substantial asset of the Group is its 40% stake in Bridge
Investment Holding Limited (formerly KoreaOnline Limited), which
in turn holds a 78% interest in Bridge Securities Co Ltd, a securities
brokerage firm listed on the Korean Stock Exchange. The Group's
other assets comprise investments in certain technology and internet
stock and other corporate investments. In addition, the Group's
asset management division manages certain Asian listed and private
equity funds.
HISTORY
AND FOUNDER
Regent Markets Group Ltd. was founded in 1999 by Jean-Yves Sireau,
after several years of research into the derivatives pricing technology
that underlies the Betonmarkets.com website.
Mr
Sireau started his career in the financial markets in 1990, forming
the company Excellence Informatique SARL to commercialise a technical
analysis charting software for the French brokerage community. Mr
Sireau's company was awarded the Fondation Jacques Douce prize for
young entrepreneurs by the French prime minister Edith Cresson.
In
1992, Mr Sireau was employed by the bank Credit Commercial de France
in Hong Kong, to make use of Mr Sireau's software to trade the Asian
financial markets. In 1993, Mr Sireau left the bank to form his
own hedge fund company, Fortitude Fund Management Ltd. In 1995,
Fortitude Fund Management Ltd. was sold in part to Regent Pacific
Group Ltd. and the Aurelia Group, a Geneva-based fund management
group specialising in high net-worth investors. The Fortitude hedge
funds were featured in numerous magazines including Asia Risk, Futures
Magazine, DFM, Managed Derivatives. (Complete articles).
In
1997, Mr Sireau's securities company, Fortitude Securities (Hong
Kong) Ltd., became one of the first companies to offer online stock
trading in Hong Kong. Fortitude's "MrMarket" trading platform
was widely featured in publications such as Hong Kong Economic Journal,
Asia Risk, South China Morning Post.
Mr
Sireau's hedge fund business was sold to Charles Schmitt & Associates
in 1999, allowing Mr Sireau to dedicate his time to the founding
of Regent Markets Group Ltd. (formerly Fixed-Odds Group Ltd.).

Today, Regent Markets Group Ltd. is a global corporation with operations
in several jurisdictions, and has become the industry leader in
the offering of structured financial bets and mini-derivatives contracts.
