About
The Sky Company
British Sky Broadcasting is the operator of the UK’s largest
digital television platform and a leading broadcaster of sports,
movies, entertainment and news.
Sky got a simple idea: to give you choice. Their ambition is bold:
to be the future of 21st century entertainment.
Since
1989, when Sky first started broadcasting, they have changed the
face of British television. For this still to be true in another
15 years, they must act responsibly as a business. This is essential
for their long-term success - supporting their brand and their people,
building a positive reputation, attracting more customers and earning
a profit.
By
talking to their stakeholder groups, six now in total with the addition
of shareholders this year, by contributing to the Media Corporate
Social Responsibility Forum, and through their own initiatives,
Sky are identifying the issues and tackling them. It'll take time
and hard work but they are making real progress.
Sky
are up for the challenge. They believe they can deliver outstanding
business results and meet their broader responsibilities.
Sky are proud that in July 2004 their community programme received
industry recognition when it was awarded the BITC Award for Excellence
in Education and Lifelong Learning.
Sky won't insult your intelligence by claiming to be completely
spotless when it comes to their environmental performance. But they
will promise to look hard to find realistic ways to manage their
environmental impact.
