The Vision Express Company
Vision
Express is one of the UK market leaders in the retail provision
of spectacles and high-fashion eyewear. Based in Nottingham they
now employ more than 3,200 people across the UK, Ireland and the
Channel Islands.
Vision
Express opened their first store in 1988 in the Metro Centre, Gateshead
and have since grown consistently so that they now have 200 stores
trading in the aforementioned territories.
In 1997 Vision Express merged its operations with GrandOptical Photoservice
SA (GPS), and the resulting alliance, now known as GrandVision,
has become the largest optical retailing group in Europe. As part
of the GrandVision group, Vision Express is able to take a total
European view on eyecare.
Since
January ’99, Vision Express have undergone a radical new programme
to reposition themselves in the market as the provider of professional
eyecare. This programme has been aided by their brand new store
concept – vision express | optical lab – where the stylish,
yet clinical, environment enables them to provide the highest standards
of service built around the needs of their customers.
The
store design concept was developed by Sir Terence Conran’s
CD partnership and it's revolutionary new look is complemented by
a wide range of state-of-the-art technology, from digital fundus
camera and slit-lamp imaging to the latest dispensing aids. As the
name implies, the lens manufacturing laboratories have been given
greater prominence in the store layout, and also see a host of new
and innovative machinery being implemented.
The
Trafford Centre was their first UK store to open in the new livery
of vision express | optical lab on 28 November ’98, quickly
followed by Watford and the Metro Centre. Following the success
of this concept, they plan to roll out the new format throughout
their remaining portfolio of stores and to achieve total conversion
during 2002.
Each
of their stores has a fully qualified optometrist at your disposal.
They carry out the day-to-day business of on-the-spot eye exams,
providing prescriptions and the subsequent recommendation of the
most suitable eyewear solution for your personal requirements. State-of-the-art
optical equipment ensures professional staff are able to give customers
the highest standard of service and eyecare.
Outside
the examination room, their attention to detail continues with emphasis
placed on the highest quality products and a commitment to the very
best in personalised customer service. With this in mind, Vision
Express stores stock a wide and varied range of frames divided into
four principle groups – Basic, Optimum, Innovation and Designer
(featuring over 60 recognised brands) – thereby ensuring a
choice for every pocket with prices starting from just £19.
Experienced
dispensing staff are on hand at all times to help customers with
their selection of frames, whilst their contact lens opticians advise
customers on all contact lens matters ranging from the initial consultation,
to the fitting and choice of lenses and the subsequent care necessary
for the health of your eyes.
