The Western Provident Association Company ( WPA )
History
Western Provident Association ( WPA ) has a history of over 100
years, helping their policyholders fund the very best health care.
Beginning
in 1901 in Reading as a voluntary fund, in 1938 they were incorporated
with the Bristol Hospital Fund, finally becoming Western Provident
Association (WPA) in 1949, a year after the NHS came into being.
Western
Provident are now based in Taunton, WPA continue to provide their
customers with a commitment to provide excellent service together
with innovative schemes like Shared Responsibility which help stop
the rise of premiums making healthcare affordable to all.
Western Provident Association now look after around half a million
people, providing cover for individuals and companies alike.
Customer Service
For the last 8 years Western Provident have consistently come top
in an independent National Opinion Poll, (NOP) which compares service
and value of health insurance companies.
Western
Provident was awarded the British Standard Institutes ‘Gold
Standard’ of company-wide registration, the 24th company in
the world to achieve this accolade. This award was in recognition
of the Total Quality culture throughout WPA.
One of the Top 100 companies in UK to work for WPA are very committed
to their staff, from entering a team in The Fujitsu Polar Challenge
(a race to the North Pole in April 2004) to featuring as one of
the Top 100 companies to work for by the Sunday Times.
WPA is regulated by The Financial Services Authority (FSA).
